Biography of Dr. Howard Foltz
Dr. Howard Foltz, Founder and President of AIMS, has been active in ministry since 1963 when he pioneered the Teen Challenge program in Dallas/Fort Worth. In 1969, he began the first Teen Challenge in Europe and, in the next sixteen years, expanded Teen Challenge programs into 27 countries.
In 1985, Dr. Foltz founded AIMS with the purpose of challenging and mobilizing churches to take the Gospel where it has never been proclaimed. Under Dr. Foltz’s leadership, AIMS has trained over 156,000 pastors and leaders worldwide to engage in cross-cultural ministry and church-planting movements among the world’s least reached people groups. Since 1995, more than 37,000 churches have been planted by the national partners AIMS has trained. As a result, an estimated 31.3 million people have heard the Gospel, most for the first time, and approximately 2.4 million people have found Christ.
The principle goal of AIMS overseas is to help Western and indigenous churches become mobilized in missions. For example, in 1996, AIMS partnered with the Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia (ECFE) and began training nationals to mobilize Ethiopian churches to take the Gospel throughout their nation. Since then, the country has experienced unprecedented revival. Today, churches in Ethiopia are supporting and sending missionaries to Muslim regions in their country and to nations in the 10/40 Window. Dr. Foltz consults with mission’s agencies, churches, denominations and apostolic movements to form similar partnerships to reach unreached people groups worldwide. To date, AIMS has formed 13 major alliances around the world including networks in Africa, India, China, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, Indonesia, Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Foltz taught at Regent University in Virginia Beach as Professor of Global Evangelization for 23 years and is now Professor Emeritus. Dr. Foltz has also traveled extensively world-wide and is a renowned national and international mission’s speaker. His passion is to see the Great Commission become the Great Completion!
